Things that Go!

Our Science Group has been experimenting with using recycled materials to build creations that go. They have been learning about how to adhere materials together, how to re-engineer things to make them move better, and how air can work to propel other objects. In December they made balloon cars based on this Design Squad experiment: https://pbskids.org/designsquad/build/4-wheel-balloon-car/. During the winter term of the STEM Club students will be constructing "Squeeze Rockets" using recycled water bottles when they have a rotate through the Science station.

STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

Our STEM club is a place where kids can come build their understanding and confidence in STEM subjects while playing and building relationships with students and mentors.

Our Club Objectives:
Promote excitement for STEM subjects through fun, creative, and playful exploration and learning opportunities that will compliment classroom education
Create students that can be confident leaders in STEM subjects
Connect experts who have worked or studied in STEM fields with students who can benefit from their experience and mentorship
Provide early exposure to STEM fields for all STEM Club students including groups currently under-represented in the STEM workforce
Foster a sense of community that expands beyond the walls of our school through building meaningful relationships with community partners
